Hammes Manages Construction of New FIU, Baptist Health Academic Medical Center
Real estate firm Hammes is serving as the project manager for the new Helen and Jacob Shaham Academic Medical Center in Miami. Florida International University (FIU) and Baptist Health South Florida held a ceremonial groundbreaking for the facility on May 27, 2026.
The seven-story academic medical center is designed to expand medical education, clinical training, and research. It will house outpatient clinical space and an ambulatory surgery center, representing the next phase of a longstanding partnership between the FIU Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine and Baptist Health South Florida.
According to the announcement, enabling work for the project began in late 2025. With major construction now proceeding, the project is scheduled for completion in late 2027, with an anticipated go-live in early 2028.
