In statements to the *Miami Herald* on June 11, 2026, representatives for most of the cited organizations attributed the notices to technical issues related to updated reporting requirements, stating the problems had since been corrected. Lower Keys Medical Center and Fort Lauderdale Behavioral Health Center reported that CMS had accepted their corrections. Baptist Health gave a similar explanation, noting it addresses "technical or formatting elements" promptly.

The warnings are part of a broader federal enforcement action that has targeted 21 facilities in Florida and over 500 nationwide since April 2026, according to the AP. The effort stems from a 2019 executive order on price disclosure. Hospitals that fail to comply with the rules could face annual penalties of up to $2 million.
