# MetroHealth's inaugural AI chief Yasir Tarabichi moves to Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi

*[Yasir Tarabichi](https://app.clinicalterminal.com/person/107509969), MD, has joined Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi as executive medical director of AI and digital, according to Becker's Hospital Review. Tarabichi, a pulmonary and critical care physician, announced the move in an Oct. 18 LinkedIn post and reportedly began the on-site role in Abu Dhabi in September.*

He had served as MetroHealth's inaugural chief health AI officer from November 2024 to October, according to the report. In that role he launched and co-chaired the safety-net system's interdisciplinary AI Advisory Committee and led deployment of predictive clinical decision support tools, including an emergency department sepsis early warning system tied to a reduction in a composite measure of death and length of stay, and a model that cut no-shows by 15% among patients at highest risk of missing appointments.

Tarabichi spent 11 years at [MetroHealth](https://app.clinicalterminal.com/hospital/514522), where he also served as director of clinical research informatics. He was previously chief medical informatics officer of virtual care company Ovatient, chaired the American Medical Informatics Association's Clinical Research Informatics Working Group, and served on Epic's Cosmos Governing Council.

In his post, Tarabichi said healthcare still runs on an operating system built for a different era, and said the new role will focus on building AI-native care from the ground up.
