The appointment marks a homecoming for Busky, who graduated from Rochelle Township High School and attended Kishwaukee Community College, according to the hospital. He brings nearly three decades of healthcare leadership experience to the position. His career began within the OSF HealthCare system as a radiology and interventional technologist at OSF HealthCare Saint Anthony Medical Center in Rockford. Most recently, he served as vice president of operations and chief operating officer at Ascension Alexian Brothers in Elk Grove Village. His career also includes 11 years in operational and strategic leadership with Advocate Health Care, the hospital reported.
"This opportunity allows me to return home and to partner with the community, the RCH team members, and the governing Board to serve the needs of Rochelle and the surrounding communities," Busky stated in an announcement from the hospital.
Rochelle Community Hospital is a 17-bed, not-for-profit critical access hospital in Rochelle, Illinois. While the hospital maintains its independence and local governance, it has been affiliated with the Peoria-based OSF HealthCare since a 2013 agreement, according to Becker's Hospital Review. The affiliation involves collaboration on clinical integration and resource sharing to improve care quality and reduce costs. RCH is also a partner in the OSF Direct Access Network.
In his new role, Busky will oversee a recently approved expansion and modernization project for the hospital, according to a state health board filing. His stated goals include improving access to nonemergency care, evaluating which services could be provided locally, and working with local educators to create healthcare career opportunities for students, as reported by SuperHits 935.
**Why it matters:** Busky takes leadership of a 17-bed critical access hospital that, while independent, is strategically tied to the much larger OSF HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, a Peoria-based system with 70 member facilities and an estimated 2,115 staffed beds. Busky's appointment brings a leader with experience at major systems like OSF, Ascension, and Advocate to a rural facility navigating the challenges of local access and workforce development while leveraging a large system affiliation.
