# Methodist Health System Announces COO Pam Stoyanoff's Retirement, Names John Phillips as Successor

*[Methodist Health System](https://app.clinicalterminal.com/hospital/712238) has announced a planned leadership transition in its C-suite. [Pam Stoyanoff](https://app.clinicalterminal.com/person/100038682), the President and Chief Operating Officer of the Dallas-based system, will retire on Dec. 31, 2026, after nearly two decades of service. [John Phillips](https://app.clinicalterminal.com/person/100044546) has been promoted to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and will assume the role effective Jan. 1, 2027, according to announcements from the health system.*

Stoyanoff was the first woman to serve as President and COO of a major health system in North Texas, according to a system news release. During her tenure, Methodist Health System expanded from three hospitals in 2008 to 13 through affiliation and ownership. The system's announcement credited her with helping to advance clinical quality, patient experience and operational excellence. “Her leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to our mission have helped define who we are today," Scoggin Jr., Chief Executive Officer of Methodist, said in a statement.

Her successor, John Phillips, is a long-tenured executive within the organization, having been with Methodist Health System for nearly 15 years. For the past eight years, he has served as president of the system's flagship hospital, Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Prior to that role, he was president of Methodist Mansfield Medical Center for seven years, according to the health system and the hospital's website. In his new capacity as system COO, Phillips will be responsible for the operations of Methodist's seven wholly-owned hospitals and various key corporate departments.

Methodist Health System is a 1,264-bed health system based in Dallas.

The COO transition is part of a broader set of leadership changes. In a related move, Methodist also announced the promotion of John Myers, MD, MS, to Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Executive. According to a report from Becker's Hospital Review, Myers previously served as president of the Methodist Medical Group.
