Vanderbilt Health taps Kevin Byram, MD, as specialty pharmacy medical director

Vanderbilt Health in Nashville, Tenn., named Kevin Byram, MD, as medical director of its specialty pharmacy, effective Oct. 1, according to a Sept. 24 news release cited by Becker's Hospital Review.

Byram currently holds several roles at Vanderbilt, including medical director of rheumatology at The Vanderbilt Clinic, co-director of the Vanderbilt Vasculitis Center, and associate professor of medicine in the division of rheumatology and immunology. He succeeds Sara Horst, MD, who now serves as vice chair for clinical informatics and care transformation.

The specialty pharmacy, which launched in 2011, is accredited as a rare disease pharmacy center of excellence by the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission. It serves patients with complex and often chronic or rare conditions, and more than 70 pharmacists and pharmacy technicians staff its specialty therapy management, financial counseling, and assessment and intervention programs, per the release.
