# Franciscan Alliance names Michael Englehart president and CEO, effective Oct. 1

*Franciscan Alliance, the corporate entity for the Catholic system operating under the [Franciscan Health](https://app.clinicalterminal.com/hospital/248855) name, named [Michael Englehart](https://app.clinicalterminal.com/person/101148196) as president and CEO, effective Oct. 1, according to a Sept. 15 news release shared with Becker's Hospital Review.*

Englehart will lead more than 17,000 employees across Indiana, including Franciscan Physician Network and 11 hospitals operating under the Franciscan Health name, the release states. He has served as senior vice president of Franciscan Physician Network and Franciscan Post-Acute Services since June 2025.

He succeeds [Kevin Leahy,](https://app.clinicalterminal.com/person/100001891) who announced earlier this year that he would step down after 30 years as CEO and nearly 50 years with Franciscan. Leahy will remain with the system through Dec. 31 to support the transition.
