Two Baystate Hospitals Earn 'A' Safety Grade from Leapfrog
Baystate Franklin Medical Center and Baystate Wing Hospital received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for spring 2025, the nonprofit announced May 9. The grade reflects performance across 22 evidence-based measures, including Bar Code Medication Administration scanning and infection reduction.

Baystate Noble Hospital earned a “B” rating, while Baystate Medical Center maintained its “C” from fall 2024. All four Baystate Health hospitals scored highest in areas such as hand hygiene, nursing workforce, and Computerized Physician Order Entry.
Yvonne Cheung, MD, MPH, MBA, Baystate Health’s Chief Medical Officer, said the organization remains committed to patient safety and continuous improvement. Leapfrog notes scores may not fully reflect current performance due to prior reporting periods.
