California hospital CEO to retire after nearly 50 years
Richard Yochum plans to retire April 30 as president and CEO of Pomona (Calif.) Valley Hospital Medical Center after nearly 50 years with the organization, according to an Aug. 24 hospital news release cited by Becker's Hospital Review.

Yochum joined the hospital in the late 1970s as an administrator and held several leadership roles before assuming the president and CEO position in 1993. During his tenure, the hospital developed several specialty services, including the Stead Heart and Vascular Center, Kidney Stone Center, Women's and Children's Center and The Robert and Beverly Lewis Family Cancer Care Center.
The hospital also reestablished a level 2 trauma program and launched a family medicine residency program under his leadership.
