Adams became CEO in June. Chief Operating Officer Arnie Young assumed the interim CEO role as of Aug. 21, the post said. Young expressed gratitude for Adams' leadership, noting she "helped set meaningful change in motion" and that the leadership team would build on that progress.

The resignation comes as the 130-bed hospital faces potential loss of Medicare funding. As of June 30, CMS surveyors found 24 deficiencies of care, including noncompliance with Medicare rules on governing body, patient rights, and nursing services. If not corrected, the hospital's Medicare provider agreement could be terminated effective Aug. 30. The hospital, the Louisiana Department of Public Health, and CMS did not immediately respond to Becker's requests for comment.
