Michael M. Shehata, MD, has been named director of the Division of Cardiac Electrophysiology at Cedars-Sinai, according to the medical center. He will lead care for patients with abnormal heart rhythms and oversee training for specialists in the field.

Shehata treats a broad spectrum of heart rhythm disorders and cares for people with heart failure and survivors of cardiac arrest. His research has advanced clinical trials of new pacemaker technologies, including leadless pacemakers that attach directly to the heart muscle.
