Janoso announced his decision Aug. 11 and has not set an official departure date, intending to remain with the organization through the transition. Fairfield and Adena signed a nonbinding letter of intent June 1 and are nearing finalization of a definitive agreement.

Janoso, who became president and CEO in September 2014, said the proposed partnership is "the path we are meant to follow" and expressed confidence Adena's leaders will honor Fairfield's legacy. Fairfield is a nonprofit system employing more than 2,000 caregivers across five Ohio counties; Adena operates four hospitals with 341 beds and more than 4,000 employees across nine counties.
