Med Center Health rural hospitals earn AHA Mission: Lifeline STEMI award
The Medical Center at Albany, Caverna, Franklin, and Scottsville have received the American Heart Association's Mission: Lifeline Regional Recognition award, according to The Lane Report. The award recognizes regional collaboration with referring and receiving hospitals and EMS agencies to deliver evidence-based care for severe heart attacks, or STEMI.
STEMI accounts for about 30% of acute coronary syndrome presentations, per the AHA's 2026 Heart Disease and Stroke Statistics Report. Eric Hagan, Med Center Health's Vice President of Rural Hospitals, said the recognition reflects the system's commitment to coordinated emergency cardiac care and shows that geography need not limit access to lifesaving treatment.
Med Center Health is a not-for-profit system in Southcentral Kentucky with hospitals in Bowling Green, Albany, Caverna, Franklin, Russellville, and Scottsville, totaling 548 acute care beds and more than 4,500 employees.
