HCA Summerville Hospital names Maury Baker CEO after return from Trident COO post
Maury Baker has been named CEO of HCA Healthcare Summerville Hospital in Charleston, S.C., returning to a facility where he previously served as COO from December 2022 through October 2024, according to an Aug. 3 hospital news release shared with Becker's Hospital Review.

Baker joined Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare in 2019 and most recently served as COO of HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital in North Charleston, S.C. He assumes the CEO role as Summerville Hospital continues a multiyear expansion effort.
Over the past decade, the hospital has invested more than $300 million in facility and service expansions, including a $67 million inpatient tower expansion that increased licensed beds by 40% to 174 private beds, a $24 million emergency department expansion, and a freestanding emergency department scheduled to open in spring 2027.
