New Mexico Awards $50M to 41 Rural Healthcare Providers
Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham announced Aug. 5 that 41 rural health care providers and facilities will receive a combined $50 million from the state's Rural Health Care Delivery Fund. The funding aims to sustain providers and prevent facility closures, according to a news release from the New Mexico Hospital and Healthcare Association.
The fund, established in 2023, received an additional $50 million during an October 2025 special session at the governor's request. This grant cycle prioritized primary care, behavioral health, maternal child health services, and specialty care, with awardees selected based on financial need and community impact.
Recipients span all four corners of the state, including hospitals, clinics, behavioral health providers, maternal health centers, and specialty practices. Examples include Cibola General Hospital, Holy Cross Medical Center, Sierra Vista Hospital, Lincoln County Medical Center, Covenant Health Hobbs Hospital, and numerous community health centers and rural clinics.
