Virtua Health names Nicole Lamborne, MD, president of two New Jersey hospitals

Dr. Lamborne previously served as vice president of clinical operations for women’s and children’s services at Virtua. In her new role, she will oversee operations, strategy, quality and patient experience at both hospitals while continuing to lead the health system’s women’s and children’s services.

During her tenure, Dr. Lamborne launched New Jersey’s first hospital-owned freestanding midwifery birth center and established an OB/GYN residency program whose inaugural class achieved a 100% board-certification pass rate. She also helped lead initiatives to improve maternal care quality, expand access to care and advance health equity.

Dr. Lamborne succeeds Mark Nessel, who is retiring after overseeing Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, N.J., for many years. Virtua Health includes five hospitals, more than 400 care locations and 16,000 employees.
