MultiCare CEO Bill Robertson to Retire; President Florence Chang Named Successor

MultiCare Health System announced on June 18, 2026, that CEO William “Bill” Robertson will retire on Dec. 31, 2026. Florence Chang, the system's current president, will become president and CEO effective Jan. 1, 2027. According to a release, the board of directors unanimously approved the transition as part of a long-term succession plan.

Robertson joined MultiCare in 2014 and led the system through a period of expansion, including the 2023 acquisition of Yakima Memorial, a 2024 partnership with Overlake Medical Center & Clinics, and a planned affiliation in Oregon. Under his leadership, the system also launched Indigo Urgent Care clinics and, in a joint venture, opened Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital in 2019.

Chang has been with MultiCare since 2006, starting as chief information officer before becoming chief operating officer and then president in 2022. The health system noted that during her leadership, MultiCare received the HIMSS Davies Organizational Award for its use of health information technology to improve patient care.
