UPMC Muncy Adds STAT MedEvac Helicopter Base to Bolster Rural Emergency Care

The Airbus H135 helicopter is staffed by a pilot, flight nurse, and paramedic, and is equipped for both scene responses and interfacility transports. The new base, designated STAT MedEvac 19, will move patients requiring specialized trauma, stroke, and cardiac services.

According to UPMC officials, the helicopter service builds on the existing emergency network, which includes the regional trauma center at UPMC Williamsport. Patti Jackson-Gehris, UPMC North Central Pa. market president, stated the service provides an additional dedicated critical care transport resource for the region.
